Kohls Woodworking is truly a family run operation. 

 

Jim Kohls, owner and designer, had been building and designing

products and projects with wood for many years. 

 

He started Kohls Woodworking with the products that

originally were  built for family and friends.  Says Jim,

"My friends just give me a picture, some dimensions,

or an idea of what they wanted and I took it from there."

 

His pieces were very popular for their design, function and durability...

that last one is important for something

meant to be used outdoors to last in Minnesota!

 

Jim began to sell retail from a small shop in Watertown, Minnesota and

began to attend local and regional craft shows where he

found more customers and began to fill out his line of products. 

 

One of the most unique products is the Sports Chair, featured on Cabin and Lake Place.   Jim commented, "I saw

the need to have a compact, yet comfortable chair that people could fit in their car trunk, minvan or truck.  I wanted

a design which used the strength and style of cedar, yet was easy to take with you to the soccer field, campground or

tailgating." 

 

The result is the Sports Chair.   We here at  Cabin and Lake Place take a paif or the chairs up to one of the

Camper Cabins in the wonderful Minnesota State Parks.  They fit nicely in the back of the truck!
